Repair Process

Our approach to furniture repair depends on the damage. Here's a glimpse into our process:

Loose Joints & Wobbly Legs: We'll tighten screws or replace them with larger ones. For stripped screw holes, wood slivers dipped in glue can be inserted to create a tighter fit. In severe cases, dowels (wooden rods) are inserted into drilled holes and glued for extra strength. Clamps ensure everything dries securely.

Cracks & Splits: Small cracks are injected with glue and clamped. Larger splits might require wedges of wood, glued and hammered in to close the gap before being sanded smooth.

Missing Pieces: For minor chips, wood putty fills the void. Carving skills come into play for replicating broken decorative elements. Missing dowels are recreated with new wood.

Surface Damage: Scratches are sanded down, progressing through finer grits to a smooth finish. Deeper gouges might require wood filler, followed by sanding and staining to match the existing colour.

Refinishing: For faded or worn finishes, the carpenter may strip off the old layer, re-stain, and apply a fresh coat of varnish or lacquer.

The process is a thoughtful blend of structural repair, filling, and skilful disguise, ensuring your cherished furniture regains its strength and beauty.
